At Alamo Heights Counseling, we want to make the process of getting your mental health care as simple as possible, so we provide a variety of payment options. We accept nearly every form of payment, for your convenience.
We accept cash, check, debit cards, all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express) and Health Savings Account payment cards.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept payment through apps like CashApp, Zelle, PayPal or Vemo. The reason is because although these methods are secure, some of them sell user information, which violates HIPAA. At this time, those that do not sell your information are not yet able or willing to provide counselors with a “business associate agreement” which is a requirement for HIPAA compliance. We regularly research whether any of these or similar apps have begun issuing these BAAs which would make them HIPAA compliant, and as soon as a compliant option is available, we will look into being able to utilize that method to accept payment.

That’s not so common these days.
At Alamo Heights Counseling, we believe you deserve to have your insurance accepted by your provider.
There are a lot of very good mental health providers who have chosen not to accept health insurance for a variety of reasons. We understand there are reasons for that, and we can accept you as a private pay client, if you prefer. At Alamo Heights Counseling, you have a choice. We put you first.
We realize that when you pay a health insurance premium, you expect to benefit from it, so we’ve joined every health insurance network we could think of (and then added a few more!)
At Alamo Heights Counseling, we’ve made it our practice to join all major health insurance networks as participating providers.
(Please note that billing a health insurance company is subject to health insurance company guidelines, which likely requires a mental health diagnosis that fits specific criteria. Your health insurance company may also have specific requirements regarding how often you can be seen or how long your appointment sessions can last. If your needs or your goals require something that deviates from your health insurance company’s guidelines, we will work with you to develop private pay arrangements that fit your needs.)

**Per federal Medicare guidelines, only LCSWs and psychologists can accept Medicare plans, therefore our LPCs and LMFTs are unable to accept Medicare at this time. A recent change of law will allow LPCs and LMFTs to accept Medicare beginning 1/1/2024. Please visit Our News & Updates page, ACA, AAMFT, or Medicare for more information.
Our hourly rate is $175.00 per hour for LPCs, LMFTs, and LCSWs, but your health insurance or EAP may have negotiate a lower rate, so if you are an insurance client, please call us to find out what your cost will be.
Our hourly rate for LPC Associates and LMFT Associates is a sliding scale from $50.00 to $100. Unfortunately, Associate counselors and therapists are unable to accept health insurance in Texas, with the exception of Cigna/Evernorth when the Associate’s clinical Supervisor is in the Cigna/Evernorth network.
Our hourly rate for Interns and Practicum Students is a sliding scale from $ 0.00 to $50.00 and is subject to availability. Please call to find out if you qualify for no-cost services.
